i'm singing in the rain... Studio session [day 12, 13 and 14]

Jimmy is busy recording vocals for 17 songs...

I know we decided to record too many songs for this first album... probably we should have been focused more on choosing at first the songs to record and made a slection... but we also really wanted to have a recording of all the songs we always performed... just one we never decide to record... and it is so long time ago we've not performed it... that is "La FattorYa"...
YES:::::::THAT SONG PRETTY SUCKS::::::::JUST A SYNTH-CORE VERSION OF "IN THE WILD FARM"

anyway... the tracklist is not choosen yet... so i had to record all this stuff... and takes actually just 3 afternoons.... it is the first time i decided to record at home and not going to the studio... same as i did for the guitars... i can take control of everything and do and re-do anyhow and anytime i want... without rushing and sipping my "winter tea" (in the middle of spring though)...

Bass Station Studio Session [day 11]

Today i recorded some great bass lines for the whole LP songs... it didnt take so long time...

I've been so keen on listening to smth sounds so old fashioned... yesterday i was surfing on the net... looking for some The Cure live performance... but i found much more interesting was this remix of "The Walk"...

a particoular extended version of the "everything mix" included in mixed up!
anyway that sounds pretty cool also because of we decided to play this song of The Cure in the latest live set...

"The voice of the machine" Studio session [day 9 and 10]

Hi there guys... seemed that everything is gonna be completed very soon... after meeting to re-record some cymbals in few songs we were not so happy about them... it's my turn, again, this time working on synthesizers to record brand new vocoders for all the songs we needed...

I dunno why people look always so interested while they hear weird robotic sounds come from the mouth of anyone using synthesizers... i can feel their interest in based on something divine... like a super-human-being!!!! LOL

These new puritans live in Torino (April 10th 2010)

Exactly one month ago i went to see These New Puritans live...
I'd been very looking forward this gig since i started love them recently and i've been loving both their two studio albums.

I went to the concert with Luca my friend and also work mate for Oh NO ITs POk, often come with us as "rodie" and he also take care of the artwork of the band for 2 EPs "MESSICOS" and "Oh Yes IT IS!"

The gig was good but unfortunately not that exciting... the sound was not proper... seemed to be a solo drum concert!
Anyway please listen to them...

During the weekend I was busy writing the missing lyrics for many songs... actually i found out there were too many missing... also Zu/Pa which is the first song I wrote for the project Oh NO ITs POk seemed to be without lyrics...

...NO WAY!!!!

Anyway...

now all of those are finished... I just wonder how could i sang all that songs in live just doing "gibberish"!!!!
That is too rotten style... and now i guess i understand why everybody calls me (sometimes) "jimmy marcio".

Tiding up: Studio session [day 8]

We just finished most of the instrumental recordings... and opening every project file... we could just see mess and mess and mess!!!!

I decided to take some time to tidy up most of the projects!
Now looks much better... very coulourfull!!!! ^^

Chinese food 中国食品

I know I am a bit late... but this time i wanna talk about what my girfriend brought me from China when she came back at least one month ago... it's lunch time so why not talking about food?

My kitchen was filled of many unknown food from China, most of those are really delicious in the first pics above there is on the right one box of meat (typical dish of Xi'An) and on the left one box of tasty nuts... yummy!!!!


then you can find lot of sorted food... there are too many... in particoular my fav was a kind crispy spicy chips... even if it was not real chips anyway... i love it!


and here that became my favourite snack ever!!!! some salty crakers with double layers of sugary blueberry cream... awesome!!!!

That's what we do... (as DEVO sing in one of their latest songs is gonna be released in the latest album probably next month)

All the instruments part had beed recorded, so we moved to edit the drum machine and give more groove to the beat of the songs... as you can imagine is not that enojoable work... expecially if you think that I should have done most of the job by myself... 'till i ran crazy... so in the latest 2 sessions i just decided to oblige danny and billy (mainly danny to be honest) to focus on the MIDI editing part... while i'de just been smoking cigarettes...!!!! hehehe

Studio session [day 4]

Here you can see Danny... what he is he doing????

It's very unusual to see a drummer playing synths!!!!
Anyway today we started sampling drums sounds and setting the drum machine of the Korg Triton Extreme...
that's why Danny had been working on it!!!!

This gonna be an interesting change for Oh NO ITs POk sound...
of course it's not gonna be the same you heard on our brand new Ep MESSICOS and for sure will be far away from the original sound of Oh Yes IT IS and Oh NO ITs SHITE... would just be something totally unxepected...

we are POk and you should expect the unxpected!!!!

Studio session [day 3]

Today's session is dedicated to synthsizers!!!!

Billy is very kean on choosing new sounds to make Oh NO ITs POk sounds much fresh!!!
We are experiencing on using new gear and some retro gear...
the session was also very quick and we could complete all the 17 songs we recording!!!!
I know looks sucha huge number for the first LP!


The equipment we decided to use for this session was based on:

YAMAHA Dx27

Hi there guys...
today jimmy and billy went to look for new clothes for the "POk suite" actually we started to be very excited and buying lot of stuff... look at how many brand new fluo color t-shirts we could have to buy!!!!


...eventually we just went back with just one new t-shirt... here you can see the pattern in preview!!!!
